UPDATED - 1/1/2006
I've seen lots of people posting the same sorts of questions here so I decided to put together some useful bits of information on the game. It's designed in sections so its useful for both new and experienced players without spoiling the plot. For beginners it runs through and explains all the basics, and gives a few pointers to put you on the right path. About halfway through it moves on to more advanced areas of the game for more experienced players, so if you don't want the plot spoilt be careful what you read UFO Aftershock Guide v1.5 - StrategyCore.co.uk If you can think of anything that needs to be added to it let me know below, and I'll get round to updating it. This started as a few ideas and just kinda grew Thanks to Slaughter the file is also available from StrategyCore.co.uk Hapveg has been producing several useful in depth guides looking at specific features of the game. To make them easier to find: Soldier Speed Sniper Rifles Medic Level 3 and by bovine cannibal Time Management Damage Types The guide is in Word, so you will need this to open it. It doesn't work in WordPad. If you don't have Word you could try this If any of the links don't work please send me a message rather than post it below. -------------------- The pen is mightier than the sword, if it is sharpened to a fine point, dipped in deadly poison and thrown from 10 feet away. Avenger, in section 7.1, you have put the wrong faction name in there.
Also, Alien tech is not high tech, the red stuff is high tech. It is not "medium tech". There is no such thing as medium tech. Alien tech is alien tech, pure and simple. Also, kudos on using proper english and not american english. |

Some little remarks
Chapter 6. Resources High tech, or Alien tech is the rarest resource, and appears on the world map as green dots. They are the natural resource of the Psionic faction. Well, in my actual game, Alien tech is the resource I have a lot. The rarest one for me is the cyborg tech. So I think it changes over games. Chapter 7.1. Tips for trading resources So if you need alien tech ask the cultist for it. That's not true -------------------- |

Excellent to see people can down load it now
Fancy trading with cultists If there are any bits you would like adding to it I will be adding a more advanced tactics section towards the end of the document where I will put some spoilers. -------------------- The pen is mightier than the sword, if it is sharpened to a fine point, dipped in deadly poison and thrown from 10 feet away. But really, you're better off with a sword.

I wonder if it's at all related to the difficulty level. My previous game on normal difficulty I ran accross it pretty often, but after my restart at veteran level I've only one province in the whole of Europe unless either Ireland or Scotland turn out to be a lucky draw. What difficulty are you playing. |

In both my Veteran and Impossible games, Low-tech resource is my scarcest commodity, by a factor of 1:3 to compared to Alien, and 1:5 compared to High-tech.

I based the assumption that alien tech was rare on personal experience (limited), on people posting they couldn't find any in their games and on the track costs, which seems to go a little easier on alien tech than on the other types of resources.
I will change the wording of the descriptions and add a note for my first update to stress the randomness, and that it may be affected by game difficulty level. I am also adding a section on Tactical missions strategy, and some notes for those more advanced in the game as requested. -------------------- The pen is mightier than the sword, if it is sharpened to a fine point, dipped in deadly poison and thrown from 10 feet away. But really, you're better off with a sword.
