Switch, you're asking for the wrong armor to be reskinned. You want Light OPEN Armor.

Switch, you're asking for the wrong armor to be reskinned. You want Light OPEN Armor. I'm pretty sure you got the name right... The only detail I remembered about it was the fact that it was 'Light' and had E-res of 1. Thanks for the correction. -------------------- Formerly known as switch.. Hehe, I always assumed you meant the open armour and was starting to wonder why you were repeating requests from earlier in the thread when it had allready been answered. It's quite easy to get confused with the model names, texture names and ingame names beeing different or even mixed.
While I like the current textures for the armours, I believe the one most flexible armour (while still being able to protect) in the game should be slightly more interesting. It is an armour design inspired by terraformation. It is the only lategame armour that allows every possible form of movement and any stance. It is the armour of choice for long range open engagements. It is the one armour you only use on maps with a lot of vegetation (because anywhere else it might not cover the environmental resistance). Merlon was intending to reskin the open armors also. I have no idea at this time whether he still intends to do so, and what color scheme he had in mind. I haven't spoken to him since just before he released 0.9 of his skin mod. If he does the open armors, and if I like them (which is very likely), then I'll bundle them. I still intend to do more work on the mod. It's just that, as I've pointed out earlier, time is an issue hence I decided to release what I've done so far since it was in a playable state. QUOTE The 'sand' armours look really cool half the game, but they get a bit out of tone when the whole palce is green. Normal, since their design predated terraformation, right? Conversly, the blue scheme looks equally out of place the whole game. Just a thought.Back to the progressreport: The little I have had time to do so far includes seperating the open light from the rest and fooling around with the advanced medium to little avail: Reducing the weight of the specular channel and setting it to use the medium battle specular map got this buggy result (as expected). ![]() Now you might say that's an acceptable difference. Well, it's not the whole story, some artifacts are caused by the erroneous texturemapping making the shoulders' texture look misaligned and stretched when viewed up close or while moving the camera. I'll hopefully have time to take a look at the open light and try a different approach to the medium advanced this weekend. -------------------- |

Keep up the good work, Merlon. I really like how your retextured armor adds a camoflauge element to the game.

Here's the second take on the medium advanced armour. As you can see I'm using the medium armour model as a base this time around.
![]() Note that this is a draft, hence I would as always appreciate any feedback. For instance: Should I keep the camouflage stripes along the sides? Should the main body be a different colour or perhaps a darker shade? Should any other parts recieve colour? Too much blue glow? Etc... -------------------- |

Awsome as always Merlon. The textures look great. As for cretiques.... well if you could tone down the blue glow that would always be good.
Looking forward to more. |

I'd like the blue glow completely replaced by a dark matte black. Those silly ALTAR models with neon blue are more suited to a TRON game. Also, I think the models look better either in all-black (as originally), or all desert. Not as a mixture of the two. Just my opinion.

Hmm, I have to agree with the anti-blue posts here. Somehow it just doesnt feel right when everything else is camo. Same goes for shiney and glowy stuff too.
Somehow the black parts also feel a bit out of place, maybe some dark shades rather than black ? Other than that the one based on medium armor does look nice. The stripes along the sides are definetely a nice touch. |

Had another look at it just now. Both armours depicted are advanced medium armours with their glow removed and replaced with a grey shade. I'm also experimenting with the shoulders and the stripe on the side as you can see. Suggestions?

I like the one on the left a lot. If you were going to go with the right-hand model, I still say it'd look better if the desert color scheme were extended to cover most of the model, and not just the shoulders and upper arms.
Good stuff! Keep going ... -------------------- |

The full grey one looks awsomely badass. Definitly lovin it.
Whats the chance we can get that greyish color on all the models as a second chunk of skins? |

I like the shades on the left one, its a good theme, the colors flow nicely and there is contrast between them while not irritatingly so. The dark areas work very nice now that there isnt anything (overly) bright right next to them.
If you applied the same theming to a fully\mostly full camo suit you might have the best of both worlds. |

I agree with the others, the one on the left is neat! Good riddance to the neon stripes!

Thanks again for the feedback guys.
Here's a quick concept mod of the armour (left) depicted above. http://savefile.com/files/565614 Most of the remaining armours have also been changed slightly. Nothing too special though as not much thought went into the quick dragging of coloursliders... -------------------- |

Just an opinion... but camo on the shoulders alone isn't really fitting. I'd much rather take a shot at a dark armour (left-side model from the last pic).
