Hey I am still trying to get my money's worth out of this game, but I have a question... Do throwing weapons work or not?
I have 1.2, it says so at the opening screen, but I still get the 0% and "X won't do that" when trying to attack with throwing knives and shruiken. I know most people think these are worthless but depending on what kind of range they normally have I think it might be useful to be able to knock people down with 3x more likelihood than normal if they try to run etc |

As of Patch 1.2 throwing weapons don't work. Sorry.
Have fun with the game though -------------------- - Gorre, A.K.A. Gor'Bane

No idea. That would be a question to ask the modders... who all immigrated to the AL forums

No idea. That would be a question to ask the modders... who all immigrated to the AL forums Ok thx... It seems to me that you should be able to fix them with a mod since the browning knife works the same way and is fuctional. If nothing else you could just copy all the information for the browning knife in the equipment file and just change the str stats to be what they should... After comparing the browning knife record to the shuriken and snickersnee (the names used in equip file for the 2 throwing weapons), the only logically signifigant differences I noticed where that the 2 commando weapons had radius stats, whereas the browning did not. Almost everything else that it SEEMS would matter was the same... I changed this in a mod and it did not seem to fix it, however this might simply refer to what it says in the glossary entry, so that these weapons can be identified as having longer ranges. However sometimes things matter when it seems like they should not... I am not sure what all the model file associated affects so it could be possible that this is the problem. I would rather have working items than have them actually look like a throwing knife etc but not work so... Also the browning has a melee mode and the others do not, it's possible for some arbitrary reason this allows it to work. I will play with these and see if I can fix them... If I do and anyone wants the mod let me know. |

Thanks, that would help alot.
P.S. the throwing knives actually do have a melee mode, but it's very weak (weaker than browning I think). -------------------- - Gorre, A.K.A. Gor'Bane

In mine they don't, despite what it says in the description. That is wierd. Guess that's another thing wrong with the game -------------------- - Gorre, A.K.A. Gor'Bane

They really messed up making this game in some areas - no offense but their bugs in the actual different UFO:AS (its visually more different, ingame plus the glossary is screwed) are REALy annoying

with a stalker lvl3 i have successfully killed reticulans with one single throwing knife (critical damage > 800). version 1.2 here
though you need to wait a good deal untill he's near enough and should be based in his back ofc Interestingly, when u check the dead your knife is gone which is illogical but hey ... Its a cool tactic for night assaults, use a stalker with scout training and cloak. Ok, reticulans are not really dangerous opponents *gg* vs cultists its mostly useless since their psionics see you .... but iŽll try this with wargots next |

I used throwing weapons alot in one of my games, just to be difernt, and this is what i've learned...
With the apropraite skills (stalker) you can kill most UNARMOURED opponents in 1 hit, (1-2 if you a commando and not a stalker), including wargots, however against armoured opponents (even light armour) there were not very effective at all I cant remember if i was playing normal or easy when i did this though *shrug* -------------------- "Somtimes you gota shove a pistol in thier face to give 'em the right idea" - Diego, after executing a Beastman Captain

Hm. I have a lvl 3 commando/lvl 3 stalker/lvl 3 ranger, and throwing weapons aren't working for him.
