Im finding it so hard to play this game. I was good at the old X-Com series, and the latest UFO Extraterrestrials. It seems it takes FOREVER to get to making actual weapons. Instead im givin knifes and like one round for each of the 2 of those big newby guns and a few of those wierd pistols. I wish missions would stop popping up so i could actually get to researching and manufacturing things blehh

If you build more laboratories of the same type, it will cut down the research times. The same rule applies to factories and manufacturing times. In the beginning, I suggest that you focus on grabbing two or three nearby bases (plus the territories inside their borders) and then build lots of basic weapon labs, basic weapon factories and ordnance factories. It's probably a good thing to also build knowledge buildings in regions that mine materials you have shortage of as having higher knowledge level also boosts the material output of the mines.

Btw, here's a link to a strategy guide if you need more tips:

I have had a lot of trouble this time around because all the mines in Europe are hi-tech, and I had next to no low-tech resources, meaning I had difficulty building bases and tracks as well as reseaching anything. I've had to give away huge amounts of hi-tech resources to get the factions on my side, just so I can beg them for some low-tech and set the relationship back to neutral. Having said this, it has made the game more difficult and actually more fun, since first time I played I had a better distribution, but was learning about things anew from the beginning. Who else here found their first cultist mission a huge shock ??? Automatic weapons against shotguns and Reiculan energy weapons with only a few shots left each, madness, but great fun. I've only lost one Cyborg so far and he was a new hire, so though sad, not a major loss. I'm enjoying the game as much second time around as I did first time. I hope the UFo franchise continues to go from strength to strengthhopefully with Altar, but also if the baton is passed to another company. Thanks for all you work guys, and to everyone from LASER SQUAD through Enemy unknown, right up to Aftershock and beyond. "May your phosphorus grenades always fly true and any splash miss your people."
