whirlpools Options

hi, i just started playing this again. i was enjoying the game, but i keep having to stop fighting and run away from random whirlpools. they only attack my men, not the beast men. they seem to be indistructable. they prevent me using tactics. basically, they are just annoying.

is there any way to kill them or remove them from the game? running around in a circle to get away from daft whirlpools is not enjoyable for me.
